Everything you can’t possibly miss on Capri

Capri

Capri is an island that enchants with its natural beauty and historical heritage. Amid history, myths and timeless charm, the most fascinating of the Italian islands has been a landing place for travelers, artists, and dreamers for centuries and is still a popular destination for tourists, celebrities and well-known personalities from all over the world. People from all corners of the earth are captivated by the unspoiled charm of nature from the mountains to the sea inlets, which becomes one with the refined elegance of the small squares, bell towers, and narrow alleys studded with stores, giving emotions of eternal beauty.

Celebrities

Known as early as Roman times, it was chosen by Emperor Tiberius as his residence: between 27 and 37 AD he ruled the Empire from here, retiring to the spectacular Villa Jovis, overlooking the sea. But not only men of power. In the 19th century it became a refuge for artists and intellectuals in search of inspiration, such as Axel Munthe, author of The Story of San Michele, and a place beloved by the likes of Pablo Neruda, Norman Douglas, Jacqueline Kennedy, Curzio Malaparte, and even movie greats such as Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren, whose cliffside house, now no longer owned by her, is clearly visible from Marina Piccola.

Charterhouse and Gardens

Among the must-see stops, the Charterhouse of St. James represents an oasis of peace in the heart of the island. Founded in the 14th century, this majestic monastic structure is now a venue for cultural events and art exhibitions, and is immersed in an atmosphere suspended in time.

A short walk away, the Gardens of Augustus offer one of the most spectacular views of Capri. Enchanting views of the Faraglioni and winding Via Krupp can be admired from these flowering terraces, making them a must-see for those seeking beauty and relaxation.

Il Faro

On the opposite side of the island is the Punta Carena Lighthouse, one of the most striking in the Mediterranean. Access to the sea is on a multilevel platform, under which a clear, rocky sea is silhouetted. Here, the sunset colors the sky and the sea with breathtaking hues-the perfect place for a sunset swim or an aperitif with a view.

Le Marine

Marina Grande is the bustling arrival point on the island, with its seaside restaurants, colorful fishing and tourist boats, and artisan boutiques. From here you can set off to explore Capri by sea or head up to the center by funicular, bus or colorful cabs.

Marina Piccola is a hidden gem, perfect for those who love secluded coves and crystal clear sea. Protected by the Faraglioni rocks, which can be seen not far away, it is a corner of paradise where you can swim, sunbathe and experience the true essence of the island.

Blue Grotto

An absolute symbol of Capri, the Blue Grotto is famous for the intense blue light that illuminates the interior, reflected from the sandy seabed. Visitable only by sea, it is one of the most iconic experiences on the island. It is joined by numerous other grottos and coves that can be enjoyed exclusively from the sea, which you can explore through an evocative boat ride.

Anacapri

Finally, Anacapri is the most authentic and peaceful soul of the island. Here, amid flower-lined streets, local stores and spectacular views of the sea, one discovers another Capri, one of silence, nature and tradition. Not to be missed are the chairlift to Mount Solaro and the Villa San Michele, a cultural jewel suspended between sky and sea.
